The bees
Why Italian Honey Bees
Italian honey bees are the most popular honey bee in America’s history, and for good reason. They’re relatively gentle to work, which matters a great deal when you’re new, and they’re known for their honey producing abilities.
We’re a commercial beekeeping operation, which means our hives are inspected and registered with the Georgia Department of Agriculture to ensure every nuc box is healthy and pest free. Every nuc is treated for varroa mites before purchase, and every queen is well mated and laying before she leaves our yard.
What you get
Five frames, ready to work
Why a Nuc Gets You Further, Faster
A nuc box means your honey bee colony already knows their queen, she laid all of the brood herself, so there’s no introduction period and no risk of the colony rejecting a queen they’ve never met.
The practical result is that your beekeeping season is off to the races in terms of resource gathering, brood rearing, and honey production.

FAQ
Common Questions on Bee Nucs
A nucleus colony — a small but complete working hive. Five frames total: three of bees and brood at varying stages, two of resources (honey and pollen), plus a well-mated laying queen the colony already accepts. It goes straight into your hive body.
A package is loose bees plus a caged queen they still have to accept. A nuc is already a functioning colony — the queen laid every frame of brood in the box, so they're her bees. Nucs establish faster and are more forgiving for a first-year beekeeper.
Both. Tell us which your hive bodies use and we'll match it so the frames drop straight in.
Yes. Every nuc is treated for varroa mites before purchase, and our hives are inspected and approved by the Georgia Department of Agriculture.
Nucs go out in spring, timed to Georgia's build-up. Reserve early — spring stock is limited and it moves.
At minimum: a hive body with frames, a bottom board, inner and outer covers, a smoker, a hive tool, and a veil. Have it set up and sited before pickup day.
